You’ve probably come across honey being used to help sooth a sore throat or a cough, which it is great for, but did you know it’s useful for so much more?
A few recent customer conversations prompted this particular blog, where I learned something new about local honey. It can help reduce the effects of hay fever for those that get it, which of course is very useful as we move into Spring! This is because it gives you mild exposure to local flowers, so your body starts to recognise this and more accustomed to them, reducing the effects of hay fever. Our local honey grown in Tarporley is also a wildflower honey, so will make more of a difference! But that’s not all……
Houghton Honey produce raw honey, which means it hasn’t been pasteurised and maintains all the lovely nutrients and antioxidants. In other words, it has minimal filtering and is as natural as it can be. Thanks to the honey being raw, it has antioxidant properties which have been shown to help lower blood pressure and boost your immune system.
And the list goes on! From helping produce good bacteria in your digestive system, to having anti-septic and anti-fungal properties that mean it’s also used in some wound dressings! You’d be amazed at how many useful properties raw honey has, and it tastes so good.
